The “loggia” on the river Nera. Why is that so? The “loggia” is what the locals call - terrace. The “Nera” is the river which gives its name to the place and marks in a special way the stunning natural scenery of the Valnerina (Little Valley of the River Nera). It is rich for the clean, fresh waters, the fish and the natural reserve. The riversides and walking paths in their remote mountain setting, have been preserved throughout the centuries. The loggia or terrace of the house is the most prominent part of the place. Large, with wrought iron banisters and a semi-circular view which overlooks, from one side to the other, The Lake of Piediluco, Polino, the village of Arrone and its mountains, the hamlet of Montefranco (another fortified hilltop opposite Arrone), the Valnerina nearly touching the Cascate. The “Loggia” or terrace on the River Nera is a 19th century stone–faced house. Its position overlooks the whole of the Valnerina ( Little Valley of the River Nera). Five hundred metres away is the sports centre, with its swimming pool, tennis courts and football grounds. You can easily reach the leisure centre on foot . Seven hundred metres away is the canoeing and rafting centre beside the River Nera. It is well equipped and can be easily reached on foot as well. Three flats make up the house and two of them are on the ground floor. One is a lovely apartment with living room, kitchen,1 bedroom, good–sized bathroom, shower and sleeping place for 2 + 2 more. The second, a charming ground–floor flat with living room, compact kitchen, 1 bedroom, good–sized bathroom, shower, sleeping place for 2+2. The third, a superb 2–bedroom apartment, 2 bathrooms – one with bathtub the other with shower, living room, kitchen, sleeping place for 4+2. The three flats are a delight inside with fine, antique furnishings and the ceilings have old-style, wooden beams. The two ground-floor flats have a magnificent “loggia” or terrace; the third displays windows all around with extensive views over the suggestive countryside. Ideal departure point to Santa Rita da Cascia, Norcia, Spoleto, Assisi and so on." A breathtaking view well worth seeing.. |
